SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Springfield police are investigating a shooting in Nichols Park overnight on Saturday, September 21, that left one person dead.

According to SPD, officers were dispatched to Nichols Park around 2:30 a.m. for a disturbance when they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A female suspect is in custody as SPD investigators continue to interview witnesses and investigate the incident.
