Man dead after getting hit by train in Madison

MADISON, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Madison Police Department (MPD) says a train hit a man Saturday afternoon.

According to a spokesperson for MPD, the man was walking down the train tracks near Palmer Road when he was struck from behind by the train at around 4:00 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The spokesperson said there are no signs of foul play and that Norfolk Southern will handle the investigation.
