Early morning crash leaves one injured in Decatur

DECATUR, Ala. ( WHNT ) — One person was airlifted after a early morning crash that happened in Decatur on Saturday.

Decatur Police said that officers and Decatur Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the area of U.S. Hwy 31 North near Hunter Lane regarding a single vehicle crash around 12:26 a.m.

Upon further investigation, officers determined that the vehicle was driving north on Hwy 31 when it left the roadway and fell onto the railroad tracks between two bridges.

DPD told News 19 that the driver was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
