Eagles’ CJ Gardner-Johnson nailed with fine after taking a punch in Week 2 vs. Falcons

Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson owes the NFL following Monday Night Football’s 22-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero , Gardner-Johnson was fined $11.255 for unsportsmanlike conduct (taunting) after he ripped the mouthpiece from Falcons wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud’s helmet.

Meanwhile, McCloud, who responded by punching CJGJ in his facemask, has to pay $10,528 for unnecessary roughness.

When the incident initially happened, a flag was thrown for unnecessary roughness which resulted in a 15-yard penalty for the Falcons.

Gardner-Johnson is known across the league for his on-field shenanigans, so this likely won’t be the only fine he ends up paying.

And it appears he won’t face any in-house punishment since head coach Nick Sirianni admitted that he loves the energy.

“My message to him has aways been– I love his emotion,” Sirianni said. “I love his energy. He’s got such an awesome personality that always use that personality to bring people together. Be yourself, have fun out there. Show your emotion. I would be crazy to tell him not to show his emotion because I show my emotion. But show your emotion. Do everything within the rules of the game because people feed off that. Again, love his energy and just his personality.”
