Body found after Queen Creek house fire

Authorities found a body inside a Queen Creek home that caught fire Saturday afternoon, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

About 4 p.m., sheriff’s deputies and the Queen Creek Fire Department responded to a house fire in a neighborhood near Power Road and Hunt Highway.

After extinguishing the blaze, authorities discovered an unidentified body inside the home, according to Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez.

Enriquez said detectives were headed to the scene Saturday evening but said no further information was available.

The fire happened on a county island, according to Enriquez, leaving the investigation in the hands of the Sheriff’s Office.
