Man charged with one homeless encampment killing, suspected in second

A suspect has been charged in one of two fatal shootings homeless encampments in Minneapolis. He is suspected in the second killing, and has also been charged with attempted murder in a third shooting, all of them occurring on Wednesday.

Joshua Anthony Jones, 36, has been charged with what police have described as a “shooting rampage” in south Minneapolis, including the murder of Robert Brown, 39, who was shot in the head near East 25th Street and Bloomington Avenue at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say Brown was standing by a parking garage in an alley when a group of people walked by him, and one person in the group went up and shot him in the head. Authorities believe that man to be Jones.

Jonnes has also been charged with shooting another man on the 2300 block of 17th Avenue South at around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, causing him critical injuries.

He is suspected in the killing of Scott Littleowl, 20, at a homeless encampment on the 2500 block of 17th Avenue South at 4:40 a.m. that morning, and shooting another person in the same incident, leaving them with life-threatening injuries.
