Hampton Roads community groups are hosting debates and forums with candidates ahead of the Nov. 5 elections. Here’s a list of events scheduled for Sept. 22-28.
Chesapeake
The Chesapeake branch of the NAACP and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Chesapeake-Virginia Beach Alumnae Chapter are hosting virtual candidate forums for Chesapeake School Board and City Council on Monday.
School board candidates will speak first on Monday, from 6 to 7 p.m. People can register to attend the Zoom discussion at bit.ly/3MmaRBV . The discussion with City Council candidates follows from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. and people can register at bit.ly/4dRDP8M .

Hampton
The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Hampton Alumnae Chapter is hosting a meet and greet with candidates running for election in Hampton. The event is from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Y.H. Thomas Community Center, located at 1300 Thomas St. in Hampton. Candidates running for mayor, City Council and School Board are invited and attendees can meet candidates and ask questions.
