Last day of Amarillo Tri-State Fair & Rodeo gates open amid weather

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Today marks the last day of the Amarillo Tri-State Fair & Rodeo, but sadly the weather is not the most suitable for outside fun.

Amarillo Tri-State Fair officials announced via social media that the Fair is open. Fair officials encourage guests to check the forecast before visiting the fairgrounds.

The U.S. National Weather Service announced that thunderstorms are headed towards the western part of the Texas Panhandle. Officials added that they are monitoring these storms, because they could become severe within the next few hours.

The weather service detailed that primary hazards from these storms include heavy rain, damaging winds, and hail. Large hail and an isolated tornado or two has a lower chance and are the secondary hazards.

It’s Military Salute Day at the fair offers all active military and veterans with identification, free admission.
