Al McCoy, the beloved radio voice of the Phoenix Suns for over five decades, has passed away at the age of 91.

McCoy held the longest tenure of any team broadcaster in NBA history, calling Suns games for 51 years. He witnessed the franchise’s NBA Finals appearances in 1976, 1993, and 2021.

Known for his iconic catchphrases, McCoy became a cherished figure in Phoenix. He was inducted into the Suns’ Ring of Honor and the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame.

Former Suns star Charles Barkley expressed his sorrow, stating that McCoy represented everything great about the team and Phoenix.

McCoy’s radio career began in Iowa and eventually led him to Arizona in 1956. His memorable voice will forever be associated with the Phoenix Suns and the memories he created for generations of fans.
