Banned Books Week begins today and runs through Sept. 28. This year’s theme is “Freed Between the Lines.” Since 1982, the American Library Association has sponsored Banned Books Week in conjunction with other international organizations concerned with censorship. The freedom to read and believe as we see fit is an inherently American proposition: Freedom of expression is enshrined in our Constitution’s Bill of Rights.
