Jovantae Barnes thinks the Sooners offense ‘shot themselves in the foot’

Jovantae spoke to the media after the game last night about what went wrong offensively and what it was like to have backup quarterback Michael Hawkins come in.

What were some of the offensive issues for you guys tonight?

Jovantae: It was just a lot of players shooting themselves in the foot, just a lot of mistakes. We just have to work on the details. On Monday, we’re going to go in there head up and just work on what we have to work on.

What was it like watching Michael come in and kind of give you guys a spark?

Jovantae: It was a great feeling and I’m proud of him. I think he did an excellent job of coming in. I think he did a good job coming out there and finishing.

What feels different about the offense when it’s Michael?

Jovantae: It’s two great quarterbacks so it’s not really a huge difference to me. They’re both good so any decision that the coaches make, it’s a good decision.

Did we see a huge step up in competition tonight from who you were playing to Tennessee?

Jovantae: We knew they had a pretty good defense but when we went out there, offensively we messed up. Like I said, we shot ourselves in the foot. We just have to fix those mistakes on Monday.
