Nampa Police K9 dies following chase and crash, Officer injured

Nampa, Idaho (CBS2) – A Nampa Police K9 was killed and a Police Officer was hurt following a chase and crash. Nampa Dispatch received a call Saturday night reporting Tanner Lucas Howe, 27 years old, of Caldwell, was on his way to a commercial location to sell drugs. The dispatchers were also notified that Howe is on parole. Nampa patrol officers were alerted and located the vehicle he was suspected of being in. Officers initiated a traffic stop; however, the suspect vehicle failed to yield, and the chase began. Officers noticed the vehicle was driven by an adult woman and not Mr. Howe. When attempting to perform a PIT Maneuver, police say the suspect vehicle turned into the police vehicle, ramming it, and causing both vehicles to roll and leave the road and land in a corn field. Nampa Fire and Canyon County Paramedics were dispatched to the scene near Ustick and Polara Way.
