Five Takeaways: Stanford 26 Syracuse 24

Syracuse suffered a stunning 26-24 loss to Stanford in the JMA Wireless Dome Friday night. Here are five takeaways from the set back. This was a game full of errors for Syracuse. Whether it was extending Stanford drives with careless penalties, turnovers, not taking advantage of opportunities and other miscues. That, as much as anything, is what cost Syracuse the game. Syracuse forced two turnovers and only got three total points off of them. Both were in Stanford territory, including one very deep. Syracuse stalled on that drive and got only a field goal. The second interception seemed to give Syracuse the momentum back, until a pick six turned the tide. It was just a sloppy game all around from the Orange, something we had not seen in the first two games. Including the seeming absence of Oronde Gadsden, who was not targeted often and seemed to be on the sideline more than expected.
