Severe storm this morning caused damage in northeastern York County, flooding in Hanover

Power outages and stranded vehicles were reported after severe weather rolled through York County early Sunday morning.

As of 10 a.m. Sunday, around 2,400 were without power around York County, according to Met-Ed outage maps.

The bulk of the outages centered around northeastern York County, with 618 out in Newberry Township, 548 out in Springettsbury Township, 440 out in East Manchester, 325 out in York Haven, and 210 out in Mount Wolf.

Multiple events were canceled Sunday at the Springettsbury Township park due to severe storm damage, including a fall festival and enchanted fairy festival. Images from the park showed extensive damage to tents and vendor stands, along with large trees uprooted.

According to Newberry Township Fire Department , firefighters responded to numerous calls related to severe weather overnight, including trees striking homes and wires.

Newberry Township Police Department reported that crews will be conducting investigations and damage assessments throughout the day on Sunday, and advised residents to self report storm damage to York County.
