Dear Editor: A few weeks ago at the Orton Park Festival, the East High School Jazz Ensemble reminded me of the treasure we have in the Madison Public Schools. These talented young people are supported by a great teacher and also benefit from the renovated arts facilities at East. Funding from a past referendum transformed a decrepit auditorium and inadequate practice rooms into a space this community can be proud of. And all of our comprehensive high schools are better learning environments thanks to that investment.
