Romania Boosts Ammo, Urges NATO Action as War Nears

Romania has called on NATO to respond to Russian airspace violations with "robust, coordinated" measures. The Romanian Defense Minister stressed concerns over repeated incursions by Russian missiles and drones.

To strengthen its defenses, Romania plans to acquire more ammunition and build strategic reserves. The Supreme Council of National Defence stated that Russia’s actions prompted the country to reassess its military acquisitions.

In a statement, the B9 group of Eastern European NATO members highlighted the need for enhanced air defenses. Romania’s strategic location bordering Ukraine and the Black Sea makes it a crucial hub for NATO forces.

The Mihail Kogălniceanu air base is set to become NATO’s largest base in Europe, accommodating up to 10,000 personnel and their families. This expansion demonstrates Romania’s commitment to strengthening its defenses and supporting NATO’s presence in the region.
