JOSE GASPAR: Delano-born activist, Tehachapi High grad carries weight of electing Kamala Harris president

Think about it. How does a Delano-born girl and a 1996 graduate of Tehachapi High School end up running the presidential campaign of Kamala Harris, the person who could be elected as the first woman president of the United States? To say it’s one of the most intense and scrutinizing jobs in politics is an understatement. The short answer is through arduous work. But it’s an honor/burden that fits Julie Chávez Rodríguez well. At age 9, she was arrested for picketing a store along with her parents.
