The National Weather Service (NWS) in Detroit/Pontiac has forecasted showers and thunderstorms for Southeast Michigan late this afternoon through tonight as a cold front moves through the region. This will bring an end to the recent streak of unseasonably warm weather, ushering in more autumnal conditions for the upcoming week.

Rain and Thunderstorms Tonight

An approaching cold front will lead to widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms across the area. The storms are expected to begin between 4 PM and 8 PM and continue through the night. Rainfall amounts will range from a half inch to three-quarters of an inch, with some areas potentially receiving over an inch due to high moisture levels in the atmosphere. While no significant flooding is expected, localized ponding on roadways is possible.
