First Baptist church of Columbus hosts 2nd annual “Let it Shine” 5K

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – A fitness challenge in Columbus this weekend helped to raise thousands of dollars for a faith-based counseling service, in memory of a local teen. More than two years after the death of 14-year-old Sims Vickers, his family and First Baptist Church of Columbus hosted the 2nd annual “Let it Shine” 5K yesterday at Kinnett Stadium. This time around, they raised nearly 15 thousand dollars so far for The Pastoral Institute to help with the mental health of veterans and soldiers, since Sims loved the military.
