Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wide receiver Chris Godwin had a down-year in 2023. Even though he still ended the season with just over 1000 yards, it wasn’t the greatness that has come to be expected of him.
But so far this season, it is looking like he is Baker Mayfield’s favorite target, as he has been the team’s leading receiver in all three games so far.
The Bucs were not able to get the win in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos, Godwin finished as the team’s leading receiver with six receptions, 53 yards, and a touchdown. That trip into the end zone already ties his total from the 2023 season with two.
Mike Evans had a fantastic year last year, but he has taken a bit of a backseat so far this season. Godwin has 11 more receptions than him on 10 more targets. But there is no doubt that Evans will get much more involved in the offense soon.

One of the biggest storylines coming into the season for the Buccaneers was that Godwin was going back into the slot, where he has enjoyed a lot of success. So far, it definitely seems to be working, as he has 21 receptions with no drops.
