NC Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson speaks to supporters in Fayetteville amid major controversy

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, the Republican candidate for North Carolina governor, made a public appearance in Fayetteville on Saturday evening.

He has been embroiled in controversy after a CNN report linked him to a series of past anti-Semitic and sexual remarks made on a porn site. Robinson greeted supporters at the Fayetteville Motor Speedway amid calls from some Republicans to step down from the race.

“We are running for governor to work for the people of North Carolina because we are the people of North Carolina,” he said to the crowd during a brief speech.

Robinson spent time taking pictures with supporters and taking pictures with them before and after his speech.

“It was great. I really felt really good about it,” supporter Susan Daniel said.

Daniel, a Fayetteville native, said she is excited to see Robinson paying attention to smaller communities.

“I think this is a great win for him, coming out here to a small track like Fayetteville and meeting all the locals,” she said.
