NEWARK, N.J. — We are four days into the New Jersey Devils 2024-25 Training Camp, and one player who has been noticeably absent is veteran forward Erik Haula .
The team announced he is currently dealing with an illness that has kept him off the ice and away from his teammates.
After the team’s 4-2 loss to the New York Islanders on Sunday night, head coach Sheldon Keefe provided an update on the 33-year-old.
“Haula was in the building and getting a little bit of a workout in today, for the first time, but it is going to be a process to build him back up because he was beaten up pretty good,” Keefe said.
It seems that to start the season, Haula will center the third line with Ondrej Palat and Stefan Noesen as his wingers. Since camp opened, Shane Bowers has been filling in.
