Classes to resume at Comstock Public Schools Monday

COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Comstock Public Schools said classes will resume Monday as threats that closed the district Friday are investigated.

“Local law enforcement have deemed everyone safe to return to school,” the district wrote in a letter to families and staff Sunday.

The district was made aware of the threats Friday and closed school in an 8 a.m. announcement. On Sunday, CPS said the threats “are in the final stages of being investigated.”

It urged students and the CPS community to report any threats to school officials immediately and not to share threats online.

“We also want to emphasize the seriousness of reposting threats on social media. Even if a student is not the source of the threat, reposting or sharing these threats can amplify fear and confusion, making it more difficult for authorities to assess the situation,” the district wrote.

The district added that if students are found to have made or reposted a threat, it “will take immediate action,” which could include students having their home or cell phone searched by law enforcement. Parents were also encouraged to report any threats to the school authorities or law enforcement right away.
