Founder aced out in bid to buy back cider brand from Vintage Wine Estates bankruptcy

The founder of Sebastopol-based Ace Cider appears to have been outbid in buying back the brand he founded three decades ago. But still in the running are billionaires Bill Foley and Copart Executive Chairman Jay Adair who earlier last week won their bids to acquire several notable wineries in Napa and Sonoma counties out of Santa Rosa-anchored Vintage Wine Estates portfolio that went into bankruptcy protection in late July after amassing around $400 million in debt.
