The first thing you notice is the cookies.
Row after row and tray after tray of thumbprint and butter cookies take up the top two shelves. Lemon, caramel coconut, Nutella, chocolate ganache, peanut butter, lemon, coconut cream and raspberry are lined up, side-by-side above almond and white chocolate almond, pignoli, amaretti, and Italian wedding snowball cookies. Red and green leaf, sesame, chocolate chip and fig cookies are scattered about too.
“We’re overwhelmed with cookies,” Giovanna Lafata said. “We bake them all day long. Over 50 are on display.”
More than 100 pounds of cookies are sold on any given Saturday, she estimates.
In that same case, lined up and waiting along the bottom row are the four kinds of biscotti, chocolate-dipped pretzels, Italian rainbow cookies and more.
And that’s just the first thing you notice. The next case over is also full, only this one is a mouthwatering display of cheesecake after cheesecake, cannoli after cannoli and cake after cake.
