Workshop to detail how to expunge nonviolent pot crimes

PORT CHARLOTTE — AYR Wellness is hosting a “cannabis expungement workshop” on Wednesday.

“Volunteer attorneys will assist and provide resources to help individuals navigate the legal process to seal, fully expunge, or improve the status of a non-violent cannabis charge,” it stated in a news release.

It is presented with a group called Blaze Responsibly.

“The workshop is part of Changing Legacies, Ayr Wellness’ restorative justice and social equity program seeking to give back and empower communities most affected by the War on Drugs,” it stated.

The free event takes place at 10 a.m. and noon on Wednesday at AYR Cannabis Dispensary, 4656 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte.
