PHILADELPHIA — Issued by the National Weather Service at 5:36 AM EDT on Monday, September 23, 2024.

Coastal Flood Advisories in Effect

The Mid-Atlantic region is under several Coastal Flood Advisories due to persistent onshore winds and elevated seas. Areas along the Jersey Shore, Delaware Beaches, and northeastern Maryland are expected to experience minor to moderate flooding during high tide cycles through Tuesday evening. The advisories are in effect for Ocean County, Sussex County (DE), and the Delaware Bay, with water levels slow to drain from tidal waterways.

High Risk for Dangerous Rip Currents

The Jersey Shore and Delaware Beaches are also facing a High Risk of Rip Currents through Tuesday. Strong onshore winds, combined with 3 to 6-foot breaking waves, are creating hazardous swimming conditions. Visitors are urged to stay out of the water and avoid jetties and piers, where currents are strongest, especially during low tides.
