Many believed that running back Derrick Henry was going to end up becoming a Cowboy this offseason.
Dallas had a need in the backfield, and Henry was a free agent, but the Cowboys never made the move.
The Ravens did, however, and the two-year, $16M contract they handed him paid dividends in Week 3.
The 30-year-old running back had his best showing in purple on Sunday, rushing for 151 yards on 25 carries (six yards per carry) and two touchdowns. He also had a 23-yard reception.
It’s safe to say it’s exactly the type of performance he was hoping to have following an offseason of uncertainty.
“I hold myself to a high standard. I definitely wanted to come out here and be able to have an impact to give us a chance to win by the way I played,” Henry said , via the team’s website. “Being in Dallas – this is where the offseason is (for me and) where I spend most of my time in the offseason. It felt a little good today for sure.”
On the opposite side, the Cowboys rushed for just 51 yards, proving they could have used a player like Henry.
