A Piqua man was killed in a one-vehicle crash shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday on Mount Olive-Agosta Road south of Larue-Prospect Road in Marion County.
According to the Marion Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, 69-year-old Gerald R. Mertz was driving a 2018 Freightliner Columbia northbound on Mount Olive-Agosta Road when the truck traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned onto its top. Mertz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Scioto Valley Fire and EMS, Marion Township Fire, Marion County Coroner’s Office, and Ed’s 24 Hour Service.
The crash remains under investigation.
