Power Bill Assistance Available for Michigan Residents

DEARBORN, MI – The Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) continues to offer vital support for low-income households across the state, helping them manage energy expenses and avoid service disruptions.

According to the Michigan Public Service Commission, established by the Michigan Department of Human Services, MEAP provides both bill payment assistance and self-sufficiency services to ensure families can afford their energy needs year-round.

Eligible residents can apply for the State Emergency Relief (SER) program, which assists with heating and electric bills, as well as preventing utility shut-offs. MEAP works alongside community partners to help households navigate the application process for energy aid, according to the Michigan Public Service Commission.

Assistance is also available through local agencies, which residents can contact by dialing 2-1-1.

Additionally, qualified residents can apply for the Home Heating Credit to help with winter heating bills. Applications must be submitted by September 30 each year.
