TAMPA (BLOOM) – At Discovery Village at Tampa Palms , an ice cream social recently brought together two generations for an afternoon of connection. Preschoolers from Primrose School of Tampa Palms gathered with their “adopted grandparents,” residents of the senior living community, for a special visit filled with conversation, laughter, and, of course, delicious ice cream.
Through the Adopt-A-Grandparent Program , Primrose Schools create meaningful opportunities for young children to form lasting, positive relationships with senior citizens. The program is intended to foster character traits such as kindness, empathy, and respect, helping children learn the importance of valuing individuals at all stages of life.
The monthly visits give both children and seniors a chance to engage in fun and enriching activities. For the students, it’s an opportunity to see that people of all ages and abilities should be celebrated. For the seniors, the visits are a source of joy and companionship.
