Wichita seeking operator for homeless shelter

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The City of Wichita will host a meeting on Monday for those interested in operating the winter shelter at 1025 N. Main, the former Park Elementary School building.

The City has allocated $600,000 for the 2024-2025 winter shelter. Applications to operate the shelter will be accepted until 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4. During the contract period, the shelter must be able to operate 24/7, allow entry day or night and serve both men and women, those with disabilities and those with other various needs. The shelter is expected to be open from Nov. 28 to March 31.

The Wichita City Council will reward the shelter’s operator at a meeting sometime in late October or early November.
