Sergio A. Calderon Martinez, 35, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property after he showed up to a tow lot driving a truck with “New Enterprise” written on the side, something the tow employees said was suspicious, according to court documents.

Troopers were dispatched to Interstate Towing in Bedford around 1:44 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 after they had towed a vehicle from the turnpike. According to the criminal complaint, tow employees said the owner of the vehicle, Calderon Martinez, showed up at the lot in a red New Enterprise pick-up truck. They believed it was stolen off the turnpike, prompting them to contact 911.

After arriving, troopers said they spoke with Calderon Martinez. He alleged that his vehicle broke down on the turnpike and he began walking to find gas. According to the complaint, Calderon Martinez later admitted to taking the New Enterprise truck from a construction area on the turnpike so he could retrieve his car. He claimed the keys were left in the ignition and the doors were unlocked.
