World Equestrian Center taking in evacuees ahead of anticipated storm

OCALA, Fla. (WFLA) — The World Equestrian Center in Ocala is offering free stalls ahead of the anticipated storm , the center announced Monday.

Starting on Wednesday at 8 a.m., the World Equestrian Center will take in free stalls to equine evacuees and owners across the state.

The National Hurricane Center began issuing advisories for Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 on Monday.

The system is expected to become a hurricane on Wednesday as it enters the Gulf of Mexico, according to the NHC’s 2 p.m. update.

“What will be Helene will make landfall somewhere in the Big Bend area of Florida,” Max Defender 8 Meteorologist Eric Stone said.

The storm is expected to be a Category 2 by the time it hits Florida.
