The App State Mountaineers took a tough 48-14 loss in their Sun Belt Conference opener against South Alabama, but that didn’t stop one of their dedicated fans from picking up the pieces when nobody else felt compelled to. By that I don’t mean that this suspenders-rocking, cowboy hat-wearing good Samaritan went into the Mountaineers’ locker room and gave some sort of inspirational speech to pick the fellas up after such an embarrassing blowout at home. Rather, he gave the clean-up crew at Kidd Brewer Stadium a huge assist, and at the very least gave App State a dose of good karma as they try to salvage bowl eligibility for the rest of the season. As the final seconds wound down on the Mountaineers’ defeat, this man stuck it out like a true All-American loyal fan would. Only he went a step further. Whether the excess litter of beer cans and whatever other scraps were lying around came from frustration or the mere result of a classic college football Saturday is unclear. What is clear is this App State stan had his heart in the right place by cleaning up the trash.
