Garland Police Department recently paid tribute to one of their own, marking the anniversary of the passing of Officer Ronnie Lerma who was tragically killed in the line of duty back in 1998. According to the Garland Police Department’s Facebook page, the department honored Lerma’s sacrifice stating, “Today, we honor and remember Garland Police Officer Ronnie Lerma, who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.” He was killed during a traffic stop on LBJ Freeway near Centerville Rd on September 21, 1998.
