Arts in the Heart festival goers answer: ‘Whatcha Eatin’ on Day 2 of the Festival

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Saturday was Day 2 of the 42nd Arts in the Heart Festival in Downtown Augusta. Along with artists from all over the southeast and beyond, the festival hosts a Global Food Village with over 20 countries represented. From Germany, South Sudan, Thailand, and others, the Global Food Village is always a major hit and has something, or multiple things, for everyone to enjoy.

“We went to Samoa, China, and India. My favorite… Samoa” says Deshon Priester, a resident of Augusta. WJBF photojournalist Rickey Jones asked festival goers, “Whatcha Eating?” during the festival on Saturday. Seve Gonzalez said, “I went to India and got the chickpea curry? Fire. Delish!”

For some Augusta residents like Brianna Ford-Faison, “This is my first time actually coming and I’ve been here for nine years.” Her food of choice, she told us, was a little closer to home, “An arepa which is sweet corn with mozzarella cheese in it. And a chicken empanada.” from the Latin American tent. However, that’s not stopping her from taking some steps outside of her cultural heritage, “I love all the cultures. I love all the ethnicities out, the food. I’m a big foodie, so I’m definitely going to try so more areas as well.”
