Closure orders reduced for Pyramid Fire, reopening hunting and recreation areas

Willamette National Forest reduced the closure order for the Pyramid Fire on Monday, reopening hunting and recreation areas north of U.S Highway 20, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The Pyramid Fire, east of Sweet Home, was reported on July 17 and has burnt 1,312 acres and was at 98% containment.

Thanks to good weather and successful firefighting efforts against the lightning-sparked fire, the Middle Santiam Wilderness is open with access to the north.
