Woman dead after rescue from tank containing fuel in Merced County

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A woman is dead and another one is in the hospital after they were found in a tank containing fuel in Merced County, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies say they responded to the 15000 block of Oak Street in Delhi for a report of two people in a tank containing fuel on Monday afternoon.

Upon arrival, sheriff’s officials say they located two women in the tank. Cal Fire also arrived at the scene and began rescue efforts.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, one of the women was rescued and transported to a local hospital for treatment, and her condition is unknown at this time. The other woman recovered from the tank was pronounced dead at the scene.
