How to register to vote in Utah in time for the Nov. 5, 2024 general election

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — If you’re a first-time voter or a new Utah resident, you may be wondering how to register to vote as the Nov. 5 general election approaches — or maybe you just want to make sure you’re still registered.

ABC4.com has compiled a list of just about everything you should know about registering to vote in the 2024 general election.

Here’s what to expect for the Nov. 5 general election in Utah

Who can vote in Utah?

If you want to vote in Utah, you must meet three criteria.

First, you must be a resident of the United States to be eligible to vote in the Beehive State.

Second, you must reside in Utah for at least 30 days prior to the next election — so, in order to vote on Nov. 5, you must be a Utah resident by (or before) Oct. 6, 2024. If you have questions about your residency, you are encouraged to contact your county clerk’s office .

“You are considered a resident of Utah if your principal place of residence is in the state and you have the intention of making your residence here permanent or indefinite,” the Lt. Governor’s office explains on vote.utah.gov .
