Tybee Island Fire’s medical license reinstated after lapse

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) – The Tybee Island Fire Department’s medical license has been reinstated.

This comes after a nearly two-month lapse due to a “paperwork issue.” A former employee never submitted the license renewal, city officials said.

The license was reinstated on Friday, according to Mayor Brian West, and a new medical director, Dr. Jeffrey Kenney, was appointed.

“The residents and visitors of Tybee did not go without services and were not at risk during this time because our primary source of emergency services is Chatham County,” West stated.

Medical services that couldn’t be provided by Tybee first responders were handled by Chatham Emergency Services, which serves the island through a contract with the county.
