Whitmer’s Clean Energy Push Puts Michigan in the Spotlight For Green Jobs – 128,000 and Counting

The Great Lakes State’s commitment to clean energy is creating thousands of jobs and leading economic growth.

LANSING, Mich.— Michigan is cementing its status as a leader in the clean energy sector, ranking sixth nationally with nearly 128,000 clean energy jobs, according to the 2024 Clean Jobs America Report. The report, based on data from the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2024 Energy and Employment Report (USEER), highlights Michigan’s rapid growth in clean energy employment, which is expanding at nearly twice the rate of overall job growth in the state.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer attributed this success to strategic investments and policies that support the clean energy transition. “Michigan is committed to leading the future of clean energy, lowering utility costs for families, creating good-paying jobs, and growing our advanced manufacturing economy,” Whitmer said in a statement. “Thanks to the Biden-Harris administration’s investments in American manufacturing and the game-changing clean energy package we passed last year, Michigan is a leader in creating high-skilled, good-paying jobs, bringing supply chains home, and reducing our reliance on foreign oil.”
