NOPD arrests one of its own

Cops have arrested a fellow officer in New Orleans.

“The New Orleans Police Department’s Public Integrity Bureau has arrested Officer Darien Crochet on charges of Second Degree Battery,” NOPD Director of Communications Reese Harper said in a statement.

Harper did not offer any additional details, but Nola.com says he allegedly punched a woman Sunday at a bar in the Central Business District. She was reportedly knocked unconscious.

“Officer Crochet has been reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of both a criminal and internal investigation.”

It was not initially clear if the alleged crime happened while Crochet was on or off duty.

Court records show Crochet has been with the NOPD since 2019.
