ADOT: Weekend Eastbound Closure Between 75th and 51st Avenues for Loop 101 Project

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) announced today a scheduled weekend closure of eastbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) between 75th and 51st avenues for an upcoming widening project.

The eastbound closure will begin at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, and continue until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, as crews work to establish construction zones and remove a top layer of worn asphalt pavement.

The closures will also affect the northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Bell Road and Union Hills Drive.

ADOT urges drivers to allow extra travel time and use alternate routes. Detour options include the eastbound Beardsley frontage road, which drivers can use after exiting at 75th Avenue before re-entering Loop 101 at 51st Avenue.

Alternatively, drivers can take eastbound Union Hills Drive to northbound 51st Avenue.

This work is part of a $140 million project to add one lane in each direction along Loop 101 between 75th Avenue and Interstate 17., according g to ADOT.

In addition to widening the freeway, according to ADOT, crews will resurface the pavement, widen bridges, reconstruct on- and off-ramps, install new freeway lighting, and add capacity to the westbound Loop 101 ramp to northbound I-17.
