Tuesday, September 24 forecast: Rain chances continue stacking up

Periodic waves of rain drifted through the Ozarks yesterday leaving behind over an inch of rainfall in many spots from Monday alone.

Today will be cloudy again with drizzle and light rain showers occasionally through the afternoon. Skies will break apart some overnight tonight and temperatures will cool to the middle 50s.

We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds on Wednesday and temperatures will be mild in the mid-70s. Overall a quiet day with isolated rain showers possible as an upper-level area of low pressure sets up just south of the Ozarks.

The interaction between soon-to-be Hurricane Helene and the upper-level low will be interesting to watch. These two features may work together to generate rainy days to end the week and cool temperatures as the remnants and tropical moisture get drawn west into the circulation of the upper-level low.

The potential is there for at least a few inches of rainfall out of the storm combo. The rain could also come with gusty winds and chilly late-September temperatures.
