Zach Lowe calls Ty Lue a “great coach” but is pessimistic about Clippers

Add a renowned basketball expert amongst those unconvinced about the chances of the Los Angeles Clippers in the forthcoming 2024-25 NBA season.

In his recent appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, ESPN’s Zach Lowe expressed his negativity for the Clippers, noting the team’s lopsided offseason.

“I am pessimistic about the Clippers. I have been pessimistic since the offseason unfolded the way it did. I still don’t really understand what they did with Paul George,” he said.

“God bless Ty Lue; he’s a great coach. But he had a story like he said, ‘I can’t wait to prove everyone wrong.’ I’m like, cool, but I don’t see it,” Lowe added. “So I’ll be one of the people you’ll prove wrong if you indeed win more than 40 games or whatever, or if you’re a .500% [win team] or better than it.”

Not a winning team

It is evident that the Clippers endured a major blow this summer, significantly hurting their star power and chances of title contention. After five seasons of up-and-down partnership with Paul George, both sides parted ways as the All-Star swingman secured a lucrative four-year, $212 million deal from the Philadelphia 76ers.
