‘It’s sickening’: Family calling for accountability from driver who struck Good Samaritan that died from injuries

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) –A family is calling for action after a woman acting as a good Samaritan died after she was hit by a car while attempting to intervene in a fight in northwest Bakersfield.

“Complete shock, complete utter shock, never in a million years would I think it would be my mother,” said Alyse Fuller.

20-year-old Alyse Fuller said that was completely shocked after learning her mother 38-year-old Shelli Janae Fuller was hospitalized after a collision on Knudsen and Olive drives.

According to police, on Aug. 22, Fuller stopped her vehicle to intervene in a fight and while attempting to stop the fight, at around 4:40 a.m., she was struck by a passing vehicle.

“She dedicated her life to saving every person that she possibly could, it doesn’t matter if you’re a stranger, if you’re an animal, it doesn’t matter, and she was the best mom in the world,” said Fuller.

Alyse Fuller said her mom was in the ICU for about two weeks and eventually was declared brain dead.
