Oklahoma’s Jaquaize Pettaway thinks his team is ready for Auburn on Saturday

Jaquaize Pettaway spoke to the media this week about his connection with new starting QB Michael Hawkins and OU’s first road game of the season.

What’s it been like developing that connection with Mike Hawkins? We saw some flashes of it the other night when you guys both got in the game.

Jaquaize: We’ve been close ever since he got here back in December and it’s been an ongoing relationship. We just got really close together and we have a strong connection. We’re just on the same page.

Did you feel a spark when Mike Hawkins came out there to play quarterback?

Jaquaize: Whichever quarterback it is doesn’t matter to me. Both guys are great and I know the receivers are going to do their job. And the quarterback is going to do his job too so I have great confidence in both of them.

What’s it going to be like for you guys getting ready to go on the road for the first time this season in the SEC?

Jaquaize: I don’t think that anything is going to change. We’re going to put our heads down and keep working. Just keep the main thing the main thing. That’s just getting the win. You really have to practice for the crowd and the noise, communication wise. Everything else is pretty much the same.
