According to the DOJ news release, on Aug. 5, 2022, the Bayou La Batre Police Department helped the Mobile Police Department arrest two people in their area with felony warrants, one of whom was Pemberton.

BLBPD officers tried to pull a vehicle over that had Pemberton as a passenger, but the driver refused to stop and led them on a high-speed chase, according to the release.

Court documents said the chase stopped when the car wrecked into a ditch. Officers searched the car and found a Taurus 9-mm handgun, and Pemberton admitted to being in possession of the gun.

Pemberton had previously been convicted of felony offenses, including third-degree burglary, felony obstruction of justice, and possession of a controlled substance, all around July 21, 2014.
