The good news, Captain Barta says, is, “Four of the firefighters have been released and have gone home, and they’re recovering at home right now, and we are pulling for all of them.”

The cause of the crash is still unclear, but the California Highway Patrol is investigating, and Barta said he is awaiting their report.

Initial reports from the scene indicated that a car in front of the Firefighter’s transport truck swerved to avoid a ladder in the road, causing the truck to swerve and roll before slamming into the right-hand guard rail. This has yet to be confirmed.
